Is
this a place where you want to be?
The
article containing the excerpt quoted below was written less than five
months after Timo's opened. Suddenly, we were busy - we were "slammed"
during the first 2 - 3 weeks.
We
did it then. And we are still doing it. The following still applies:
"That so many resonant dishes could come out of such a hidden kitchen
proves that passionate cooking will surface as surely as new growth in
the spring. Restaurants, whose inspiration starts at the stove,
and whose dining rooms are the means to get that food out to people, can
be gems. I loved Timo's expressive food, but I liked the crazy atmosphere
as well. The gerrymandered green and purple dining rooms became
a refreshing change from the formulaic, corporate extravaganzas that denote
"restaurant" these days. For those of us who haven't cocooned or burrowed,
but are still out there seeking the pleasures of a city, eccentric and
affordable little Timo's certainly ranks as one of them".
Patricia
Unterman, San Francisco Chronicle, August 23, 1992.
Timo's
is located in the heart of San Francisco,
just a few blocks from the Mission Dolores. Here
is a high-flying bird's eye view of where we are located.

Parking
information:
As
is true for any area worth visiting, parking is not always easy. When
you pass this sign on your right, go one and a half more blocks and turn
left on 21st. Street; there you will find an attended city garage with
very reasonable rates.
PARTY
PLANNING
Due
to the physical layout of this limited space, any party for more than
16 people should be booked as far in advance as possible; the largest
party we can accomodate here is about 40, unless special arrangements
are made as described below.
Larger
parties.
We
have in the past booked parties for up to 120 persons and we are still
willing to do it occasionally. That requires booking the entire
restaurant and paying a minimum charge equal to what would have been the
total sales for that shift if the restaurant had been open to the public.
We will quote prices and book such events. If you really want to
do one, the cost would be much lower if you plan it on a Monday, Tuesday
or Wednesday.
