Take the No GMO Challenge!

PhotobucketI have been trying to spread the word about GMOs on and off for several months. For a while, I paid for a Google AdWords campaign for grass-fed meats from US Wellness, based on these meats being guaranteed to not come from cloned animals. I decided to offer these meats for sale on the Timos site only after I ascertained these meats would never come from cloned animals - I even got a statement in writing from US Wellness guaranteeing this to be true. And, in fact, some people did buy meats from those ads.

My big objection to this whole GMO issue is the fact that it's very hard to know the origin of foods or whether they contain GMOs or not. The FDA and other government agencies allow this non-disclosure, in fact, even encourage false labeling (think of "raw" almonds in California). THAT HAS TO CHANGE. When you buy a piece of meat in a supermarket, you have no idea if that meat comes from a cloned animal or not. We cannot count on our government to protect us.

The thing I would like the most is to see disclosure from producers/sellers being compulsory.

FDA Promotes Unsafe Milk Due to Industry Pressure

FDA Promotes Unsafe Milk Due to Industry Pressure

I browse news about the FDA and Big Pharma a couple of times a week; I don't recall a single one of those browsing sessions not yielding one or more items about the crimes that these two - the FDA and Big Pharma - continue to commit. Here is one such item that particularly pissed me off, published less that a week ago – February 8, 2009. You can read the whole item here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jeffrey-smith/fda-promotes-unsafe-milk_b_184886.html.

The title of this post, same as the title of the news item, says it all. I have been writing – on this blog and in my timos web site – about the scariest, most powerful drug cartel in the world, the USA Drug Cartel, not only the biggest and richest one but the best protected one, thanks to the FDA gang. This alliance between the FDA and Big Pharma makes the Italian Mafia look like a bunch of choir boys and girls.

Bad news: Niman Ranch is no more

I was surprised a few days ago when I was randomly browsing a series of restaurant menus and seeing, in more than one of them, meat items named "Niman Ranch [some-kind-of meat]".

Apparently, some chefs don't even get out of the kitchen to read the paper or otherwise learn the news. Bill Niman is no longer part of the company, which has now changed the feeding protocols to allow the use of antimicrobials and is moving the cattle to commercial feedlots for finishing – the Niman Ranch feedlot has been sold. Here is a recent article.

Too bad. Those menus now might as well read "Safeway flatiron" or "McDonalds rib eye".

Sad.

Do you eat?

A while ago, I "speed-read" a friend's copy of Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma, but got busy and did not look at it again until three days ago. Now, I am reading it word by word and I'm 2/3 of the way done.

This book should be required reading in all the schools. Do you eat? If so, you MUST read it if you haven't already.

The USA Drug Cartel is alive and well...

... and keeps expanding business by perpetrating more crimes against Americans.

The Big Pharma disease mongers, not happy with being able to sell anti-depressants for use on pets, recently obtained approval from their partner in crime – the FDA, another bunch that should be behind bars – to promote the use of cholesterol-lowering statin drugs for use by children age 8 and up.
But wait, there's more: the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee has announced that infants as young as TWO years old need to be screened for high cholesterol!

Read these facts on my web site and try not to toss your cookies: http://www.timos.com/timos/timoCorner/timoArticle.cfm?locale=en_US&itemID=78.

Something else, curious, to say the least: just a few days ago, I took my granddaughter to a place called Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. Imagine my surprise when, looking to get a cup of coffee, I am directed to the food concession for this hospital for children, which turns out to be part of America's biggest cholesterol palace – a McDonald's. Makes one wonder who gets a referral fee from whom.

A horrific possible outcome if we keep screwing with the environment

ThirstyThis should be enough to shut down several government agencies, including but not limited to the EPA, the FDA, the USDA, and start over.

The Letter Written in the Year 2070 has been circulating since 2002, when it was first published. I just learned about it by chance, a couple of weeks ago, when someone emailed it to me. But I couldn't find an English version anywhere, so I did a translation.

This, you MUST see – and spread it around as much as possible. Just go to this page on my web site.

Some may think it's bullshit or a scare tactic. But it's a possibility. Don't miss it.

Beware! Bush has saved our planet

Bush saves earthHere is the inspiration for this post's title:

I always thought "Federal Drug Administration" was a misnomer. Boy, was I wrong! These bastards' only concern is actually drugs. They want nothing to do with the good things we can ingest, like natural foods and supplements, vitamins, herbs and such, except when it comes to prevent access to these good things.

You can get in a heap of trouble by promoting the benefits of healthy natural products. Yet, our government (not just the FDA, and not just the Feds) allows – no, promotes – mislabeling. One shameless example: the new rules of the Almond Board of California, with the blessing of the USDA, mandating the pasteurization of all commercially grown almonds, yet allowing those poisoned almonds to be labeled as "raw".

Things like this have prompted me to add a new section to the Timos site, which will be dedicated to the environment and other related subjects. I have started by presenting a series of hilarious cartoons. They are very humorous, but touch on a subject that is very serious; if you are at all concerned about our poor abused planet or about your health, you will want to look at these – just go to the site and take a look at the "Green Earth" section.

The Timos site is now bilingual (English-Spanish), so those viewing it in Spanish will look at "Tierra Verde". The list of all the cartoons is here: timos.com/timos/green/cartoonList.cfm.

Enjoy! More on this soon.

Note: This comic by Mike Adams – and the other 80+ - appear on Timos site, courtesy of NaturalNews.com, the Internet's best e-zine about the environment and a green earth. The original, in its full size is here.
