Message to CBS News about Rawesome raid by FDA

Here is the message i sent to CBS News (Twitter handle: @CBS8), on August 8, 2011.

---

On 3 August 2011, Rawesome Foods, a private food buyers club in Venice, CA was subjected to a SWAT-style armed raid conducted by the FDA assisted by 2 or 3 other government agencies. Although the reason for the raid was conspiracy to sell raw milk and cheese, authorities confiscated not just dairy, but also mangoes, watermelons, computers and cash - in fact, they completely cleaned out the whole place. The news about this has been widely disseminated through Twitter and various other news sources.

I watch CBS News every evening at 6 and 11 o'clock, thinking of CBS as a reliable and unbiased source. So, it has been a big surprise to me to not have heard a single word on CBS about this raid since it took place. I have, however, seen CBS stories about a missing dog and other relatively minor events.

So, a couple of questions come to mind, like:

-- Is CBS such a lame organization that it can't pick up news about things that affect the rights and freedom of people across the United States?

-- Is CBS being muzzled? If so, by whom?

I would love to hear any comments you may have about this.

Thank you.

I sent the message using the "Your Stories Submission" page on the CBS website, http://www.cbs8.com/story/15198035/your-stories-submission.

Although many of the alternative news sources have covered this, there has not been a single word in the mainstream news media - I have my own ideas as to why.

I do not think we, the public, would be out of line if we demanded to know what has kept the news outlets from covering the Rawesome raid. I have contacted CBS because theirs is the news broadcast I usually watch. It is possible that I am wrong; if that is the case, I am sure that whoever has covered the raid will let us know. If you want to help put a little pressure on the news media, here is what i suggest:

  • Copy and, if you wish, modify my message -- or create your own from scratch -- and use the above-mentioned link to contact CBS.
  • Other news organizations - like ABC, NBC, Fox, CNN, you know - surely have some way to receive public comments. You can go to their sites and find a way to send them the message.
  • Let us know what, if anything you do. You can post a comment to this entry or send me a tweet (@webgourmand).

If you care about your health, your freedom, your rights take a couple of minutes and do something. If you let apathy rule you, you are contributing to perpetuating the status quo - not what you or any of us wants. The least you should do is share the URL to this post with others.

Have fun.
